Technical Graphics

Technical  Graphics.(see brochure)

Technical  Graphics  involves  students  in the  development  of  the  range  of  skills  associated   with the  management  of  spatial  problems  and  the  graphical  communication  of  spatial  ideas  and  solutions.   It  contributes  to t he development  of  logical  thinking  and  reasoning  and skills  of  observation,  measurement,  interpretation   and  problem  solving.

The  three  main  areas  studied  are;

  1. Plane  Geometry:                   Constructions,   Plane  Figures,  Area. 
  2. Descriptive  Geometry:           Orthographic  Projection, Pictorial
    (isometric)  Drawings, Surface Development.
  3. Communication  Graphics:     Freehand  Drawing, Design  Graphics,
    Computer Graphics.

Students  are  taught  in  mixed  ability  groups.  Technical  Graphics  is  assessed  at  both  Ordinary  and  Higher  level  by  means  of  an  Examination  Paper.

Technical Graphics can be studied at Leaving Cert Level as Design and  Communication  Graphics.
